Sec. Simon announces availability of 2023-2024 Blue Book

May 18, 2023

Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon announced availability of a downloadable edition of the 2023-2024 Minnesota Legislative Manual, or “Blue Book.” Readers will find the Blue Book an authoritative guide to Minnesota government as well as Minnesota’s history, culture, and institutions.

This edition of the Blue Book is dedicated in recognition of the hundredth anniversary of the passage of the Indian Citizenship Act. June 2, 2024 will mark 100 years since passage of the law, signed by President Calvin Coolidge. A special section at the center of the book contains more information about the history of Native American voting rights in the nation and in Minnesota, some accounts of the Indian Citizenship Act at the time of its passage, and reflections about elections and voting in Native communities today.

“I hope this edition will continue to be a trusted resource for people all over Minnesota as it has been since 1874,” said Sec. Simon. “It’s a privilege to work alongside thousands of people who serve the public in so many ways through our local, state, and federal government, and who are reflected in the pages of this book.”

Print copies of the Blue Book and the student-friendly Pocket Edition will be available this summer from the Secretary of State’s Office.
