June 2016: Notice of Vacancies in State Boards, Councils and Committees

Application forms are available online and must be submitted by June 28, 2016, to be assured of full consideration by the appointing authority.

SAINT PAUL — The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State today released the June 2016 notice of vacancies for various state boards, councils and committees that are accepting applications, due June 28, 2016. Minnesotans are encouraged to apply and serve in demonstration of public service. The full list of vacancies is listed below and online.

Application forms are available online and must be submitted by June 28, 2016, to be assured of full consideration by the appointing authority. Appointing authorities may choose to review applications received by the Secretary of State after June 28.

BOARD OF FIREFIGHTER TRAINING AND EDUCATION
Vacancies: One Representative of the Minnesota Professional Firefighters Association

CAMPAIGN FINANCE AND PUBLIC DISCLOSURE BOARD
Vacancies: Two Members

GOOD FOOD ACCESS PROGRAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Vacancies: Seventeen Members including: One person representing the grocery industry, One person representing rural economic or community development, One person representing urban or suburban economic or community development, Two people representing political subdivisions of the state, One person representing public health experts, One person representing philanthropic foundations, One person representing economic or community development financial institutions, One person representing the University of Minnesota Regional Sustainable Development Partnership, One person representing a statewide hunger relief organization engaged in addressing food security, one person representing a community-based organization engaged in addressing food security, One person representing immigrant farmer-led organizations, One person representing small business technical assistance with experience in food retail, and up to four additional members with economic development, health equity, financial or other relevant expertise.

HOUSING FINANCE AGENCY
Vacancies: One Public Member, who cannot reside in Development Regions 3, 7W or 8.
Region 3 includes: Koochiching, Itasca, St. Louis, Lake, Cook, Aitkin, and Carlton Counties
Region 7W includes: Stearns, Benton, Sherburne, and Wright Counties
Region 8 includes: Lincoln, Lyon Redwood, Pipestone, Murray, Cottonwood, Rock, Nobles, and Jackson Counties

MEDICAL CANNABIS REVIEW PANEL
Vacancies: Seven Members including: One Medical Cannabis Patient Advocate; One Health Care Practitioner; One Health Care Practitioner with Expertise in Pediatric Medicine; and Four At-Large Members.
Descriptions include: "Patient Advocate": is an individual with a knowledge of medical cannabis who promotes patient interests in safety, privacy, access, and affordability. “Heath Care Practitioner” is a Minnesota-licensed doctor of medicine, a Minnesota licensed physician assistant acting within the scope of authorized practice, or a Minnesota licensed advanced practice registered nurse who has the primary responsibility for the care and treatment of the qualifying medical condition of a person diagnosed with a qualifying medical condition.
Additional Information: While the meeting schedule, location and hours may vary as necessary, the Panel will have an organization meeting on August 25, 2016. The Panel will then hold at least two working meetings to review petitions and develop a report to the commissioner. The first working meeting will be held on September 8, 2016, and the second working meeting will be held on September 22, 2016. Additional meetings may be added if they are needed. Please ensure your availability for scheduled meeting dates before applying.

MINNESOTA FOREST RESOURCES COUNCIL
Vacancies: One Representative from a Conservation Organization

MINNESOTA ORGANIC ADVISORY TASK FORCE
Vacancies: Fifteen Seats including: One Representative of a Nonprofit Organization Representing Producers; One Person Representing Organic Certification Agencies; One Person Representing Organic Consumers; Three People Representing Organic Farmers; Two People Representing Organic Processors; Two Public Members; One Person Representing Retailers of Organic Products; One Person Representing Wholesalers or Distributors of Organic Products; One Person Representing the United States Department of Agriculture; One Person Representing the University of Minnesota Extension; and One person Representing the University of Minnesota Faculty.

MN COMMISSION ON NATIONAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE (SERVEMINNESOTA)
Vacancies: Twelve Seats including: Seven Community Members; One Community-Based Agency Representative; One Youth Education Representative; One Business Member; One Communications Expert Member; and One Volunteerism with Older Adults Member.

NONPUBLIC EDUCATION COUNCIL
Vacancies: One Member

The monthly Notice of Vacancies is posted on the first Monday of every month and is provided by email to those who subscribe for the notice.

In accordance with the Minnesota Open Appointments Law, the Secretary of State acts as an administrator in publishing vacancies, receiving applications and recording appointments. Applications will be reviewed and appointments made by the appointing authorities; questions about specific vacancies and appointments should be directed to the appointing authority. Applications are kept on file for a one-year period.
