August 2016: Notice of Vacancies in State Boards, Councils and Committees

Application forms are available online, or downloadable, and must be submitted by August 23, 2016, to be assured of full consideration by the appointing authority.

SAINT PAUL — The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State today released the August 2016 notice of vacancies for various state boards, councils and committees that are accepting applications, due August 23, 2016. Minnesotans are encouraged to apply and serve in demonstration of public service. The full list of vacancies is listed below and online.

BOARD OF DIETETICS AND NUTRITION PRACTICE
Vacancies: One seat for a Registered Dietitian – With at least three years of dietetics practice in Minnesota, and has been a resident of the state of Minnesota for two years immediately preceding appointment and must represent various geographic areas of the state and various employment settings.

BOARD OF PSYCHOLOGY
Vacancies: One Seat – Representative of a Masters Training Program

BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE MINNESOTA STATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES SYSTEM
Vacancies: One seat – for a member residing in the Seventh Congressional District

CAMPAIGN FINANCE AND PUBLIC DISCLOSURE BOARD
Vacancies: One seat – for a person who supports a political party other than the Republican Party; who has not been a public official, held any political party office other than precinct delegate, or been elected to public office for which party designation is required by statute in the three years preceding the date of appoint; and, who cannot be a lobbyist.

CULTURAL AND ETHNIC COMMUNITIES LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
Vacancies: Two seats – Members of the Faith Community.

FOOD SAFETY AND DEFENSE TASK FORCE
Vacancies: One seat – for a member from the University of Minnesota knowledgeable in food and food safety issues.

GOVERNOR'S COUNCIL ON THE MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. HOLIDAY
Vacancies: 15 Seats – for a term ending March 1, 2017.

HEALTH CARE HOMES ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Vacancies: Three seats including Two Consumer Representatives and one Certified Health Care Home Representative

MINNESOTA AGRICULTURAL WATER QUALITY CERTIFICATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Vacancies: Fifteen Seats

Applications are encouraged from the following groups: farmers or ranchers; farm organizations; commodity or livestock organizations; agriculture related businesses; consumer packaged goods businesses; crop consultants or advisors; environmental organizations; conservation organizations; local government representatives; agricultural, environmental, and water quality researchers and policy experts; local and sustainable food systems.

Applications should include a brief cover letter, resume, or other information that will outline or discuss the ways in which an applicant’s background and qualifications will contribute to the success of the Committee.

MN BOARD OF SOCIAL WORK
Vacancies: One Seat – for a public member with a term ending January 7, 2019.

MN SENTENCING GUIDELINES COMMISSION
Vacancies: One vacancy for a County Attorney for a term ending January 7, 2019.

PESTICIDE MANAGEMENT PLAN COMMITTEE.
Vacancies: Ten Seats including:
Two At-Large Members
One Representative of Environmental Organizations
One Representative of Farm Organizations
One Representative of Farmers
One Representative of Industry
One Representative of MN Department of Natural Resources
One Representative of the MN Department of Health
One Representative of MN Pollution Control Agency
One Representative of University of Minnesota Extension Service

Members should, but not required to, have scientific expertise in areas such as hydrology, natural resources, pesticide chemistry, pesticide use, public health, soil chemistry or toxicology.

SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST AND AUDIOLOGIST ADVISORY COUNCIL
Vacancies: Four seats including:
One Public Member
One Member - engaged in the practice of audiology and the dispensing of hearing instruments in Minnesota
Two Members – engaged in the practice of speech-language pathology in Minnesota, and each of whom is employed in a different employment setting including, but not limited to, private practice, hospitals, rehabilitation settings, educational settings, and government agencies.

The monthly Notice of Vacancies is posted on the first Monday of every month and is provided by email to those who subscribe for the notice.

In accordance with the Minnesota Open Appointments Law, the Secretary of State acts as an administrator in publishing vacancies, receiving applications and recording appointments. Applications will be reviewed and appointments made by the appointing authorities; questions about specific vacancies and appointments should be directed to the appointing authority. Applications are kept on file for a one-year period.
