SAINT PAUL — Today, Secretary of State Steve Simon and the Minnesota Wild announced a new partnership geared toward reminding Minnesotans to vote in the November 8 election, including a new 15-second TV public service announcement. The announcement comes on the day of the Wild’s season opener against the St. Louis Blues.
The TV PSA features Wild star Charlie Coyle encouraging Minnesotans to “Get in the game!” and “Vote on November 8th!” The spot, which is now airing on FOX Sports North, informs Minnesotans they can visit mnvotes.org to register to vote online and request an absentee ballot. “With less than one month before Election Day it’s never been easier and more convenient to register and to vote in Minnesota,” said Secretary Simon. “I’m incredibly thankful for the work the Wild are doing to increase civic participation and look forward to working together to get Minnesota back to number one in voter turnout in the country.”
“The Minnesota Wild encourages all hockey fans to vote on November 8,” said Matt Majka, Chief Operating Officer, Minnesota Wild. “Minnesotans unable to make it to the polls on Election Day can still vote early—for any reason—by casting an absentee ballot. Don’t miss your shot at making your voice heard.”
The 15-second PSA will air on FOX Sports North, which telecasts Wild games, between now and October 18, the pre-registration deadline in Minnesota. A 5-second PSA that encourages Minnesotans to vote on November 8 will air between now and Election Day.
The partnership with the Wild also includes in-stadium promotions of voting messages, including announcer reads and LED sign announcements. The Wild joins the Timberwolves, Lynx, and Twins in encouraging Minnesotans to vote this November.
