Blue Book and Pocket Edition Now Online

ST. PAUL, Minnesota — September 3, 2013—Secretary of State Mark Ritchie today announced the availability of the 2013–2014 Minnesota Legislative Manual. Also known as the Blue Book, the biennially published reference volume is available online at the Secretary of State’s website, Blue Books also are available at office locations, and mail order instructions are posted on the website.

“I’m happy to again make this great reference available to the public — citizens, students and teachers, local and county officials, state legislators, members of the media and more,” says Ritchie. “It’s a valuable resource that provides historical insight as to where we’ve been and where we are today.”

The theme of the current edition is voters and voting in Minnesota, with supporting photos and facts. Previous themes have honored the 150th anniversary of the Civil War (2011–2012); Minnesota veterans (2009–2010); and Minnesota Statehood Sesquicentennial (2007–2008). The previous editions also are online.

The Blue Book contains 2012 election results, as well as special primary and special elections results since the last edition. It provides general information about Minnesota, as well as local, state and federal governments. An 80-page condensed Blue Book Pocket Edition, a popular resource for teachers and students, is also available online.

The new 658-page version includes the following chapters:

  • Minnesota in Profile
  • Charters, Laws and Founding Documents
  • State Legislature
  • State Executive Offices
  • State Agencies
  • State Judiciary
  • Local Government
  • Federal Government
  • Tribal Government
  • Minnesota Elections
