State House of Representatives Districts 14A and 19A Special Elections to be Held February 12

St. Paul, Minn.—February 11, 2013—Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie reminds Minnesota Legislative Districts 14A and 19A to vote in the special elections being held tomorrow, Tuesday, February 12. These special elections will determine who will fill the vacancies created in the districts when State Representatives Terry Morrow and Steve Gottwalt resigned. Legislative District 14A includes the eastern part of Stearns County, including much of St. Cloud, in central Minnesota. Legislative District 19A includes all of Nicollet County as well as parts of Le Sueur and Blue Earth Counties, including part of Mankato, in southern Minnesota.

The candidates who will be on Tuesday’s ballot are: Todd McKee (Independence), Tama Theis (Republican) and Joanne Dorsher (Democratic-Farmer-Labor) in District 14A and Tim Gieseke (Independence), Allen Quist (Republican) and Clark P. Johnson (Democratic-Farmer-Labor) in District 19A. 

Most polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Minnesota has Election Day registration, which allows voters to register to vote at the polls.

Unofficial special elections results will be posted after the polls close at 8 p.m. on Election Night at www.sos.state.mn.us.

The State Canvassing Board will meet to certify the House Districts 14A and 19A special elections on Thursday, February 14 at 1:30 p.m. in room 400 North of the State Office Building in St. Paul, Minnesota. State Canvassing Board members are: Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, Chair; The Honorable Alan C. Page, Associate Justice, Minnesota Supreme Court; The Honorable Wilhelmina M. Wright, Associate Justice, Minnesota Supreme Court; The Honorable Denise D. Reilly, Judge, Fourth Judicial District; and The Honorable Ivy S. Bernhardson, Judge, Fourth Judicial District.
