Secretary of State Mark Ritchie Announces 2012 Business Filings Continue to Outpace 2011

St. Paul, Minn.—August 8, 2012—Secretary of State Mark Ritchie announced today that new business filings for 2012 are up compared to same period last year.

“Minnesota business filings continue to trend ahead of 2011,” said Secretary of State Mark Ritchie.

Limited Liability Company (LLC) filings, the most common legal structure for new business in Minnesota, are up 21 percent over the same period a year ago.  Overall business filings are up 16 percent.
