House District 61B Special Election to be Held January 10, 2012
- Candidate Filing Period Begins October 27, 2011

St. Paul, Minn.—October 26, 2011—Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie today received a writ from Governor Mark Dayton ordering a special election be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012. The special election is being held to fill the vacancy created in House District 61B when Representative Jeff Hayden was elected and sworn in to serve as the Senate District 61 state senator. A special primary election, if necessary, will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011.

The candidate filing period for the House District 61B seat begins Thursday, October 27 and ends Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 5 p.m. Candidates may file with either the Hennepin county auditor or the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State in St. Paul. The candidate withdrawal period ends at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2011.

Candidate and special election information will be posted on the Office of the Secretary of State website at: www.sos.state.mn.us.
