The Office of the Secretary of State has simplified the voter registration process for voters who move to a new residence within Minnesota.
How it works
Your voter registration may be updated automatically when you complete the U.S. Postal Service change-of-address form to permanently forward your mail to your new home.
If your name and address information match on the U.S. Postal Service change-of-address form and in the statewide voter registration database, your registration will be automatically updated.
In 6 - 10 weeks, look for a green postcard in your mail confirming your updated registration and listing your new polling location. The postcard also has your county auditor’s contact information so you can call if you do not want to or should not be registered at your new address.
If you did not receive the green postcard, don’t worry. You can still register by completing a voter registration application or registering on Election Day.
