Steve Simon: 'Minnesota made it clear that if you put on the uniform of this country you will be guaranteed equal protections' when you vote

May 18, 2015

A major priority of Secretary Simon’s just passed the Minnesota Legislature!

Secretary Simon worked closely with lawmakers to pass a bill to give equal voting protections to all members of the National Guard. The bill allows members of the National Guard who are called to service by the state the use of the same accommodations for voting as when they are called to service by the federal government.

“Service is service, and today Minnesota made it clear that if you put on the uniform of this country you will be guaranteed equal protections and accommodations when you vote,” said Secretary Simon. “I will keep working to make it easier to vote for all eligible Minnesotans, especially for those serving our country at home and overseas.”
