State Canvassing Board Certifies Special Primary Election Results for House District 3A

House District 3A includes all of Cook and Koochiching counties, almost all of Lake County, and northern and eastern portions of St. Louis County.

SAINT PAUL — The five-member State Canvassing Board, chaired by Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon, today certified the results of the State House District 3A Special Primary Election.

The Office of the Secretary of State reports 7,753 voters cast a ballot in the primary. In the Democratic-Farmer-Labor primary, the official results show Rob Ecklund winning with 3,083 votes. Bill Hansen received 2,637 votes, Eric Johnson received 678 votes, and Heidi Omerza received 655 votes. In the Republican primary, the official results show Roger Skraba winning with 576 votes.

The State Canvassing Board members are Secretary Simon; Associate Justice David R. Stras, Minnesota Supreme Court; Associate Justice David L. Lillehaug, Minnesota Supreme Court; Second Judicial District Judge Rosanne Nathanson; and Second Judicial District Judge Leonardo Castro.

The special election, which will be held on December 8, 2015, is being held to fill the vacancy created by the passing of former State Representative David Dill.

Candidates on the ballot will include Ecklund, Skraba, and independent candidate Kelsey Johnson. House District 3A includes all of Cook and Koochiching counties, almost all of Lake County, and northern and eastern portions of St. Louis County.
